Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

NARAC facility at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

The Department of Energy (DOE) funded the construction of a building at LLNL to house the NARAC emergency operations center and staff. Completed in 1996, the facility includes an operations room, a dedicated computer center, redundant communications systems, and 24/7 electrical power systems (uninterruptible power supply, batteries, and diesel generators). Co-location of the multi-disciplinary NARAC team in the same building as the center provides an ideal environment for developing and maintaining a state-of-the-science atmospheric dispersion prediction capability.
