Chemical Briefing Products address releases of both toxic industrial chemicals and chemical warfare agents. These products provide guidance on evacuation or sheltering of the general population, worker protection, and potential health effects from inhalation of the chemical cloud.

As with the technical versions of these products, the chemical-related public health effect levels shown are derived from DOE-developed Protection Action Criteria (PAC) air concentration levels based on EPA Acute Action Guideline Levels (AEGLs), AIHA Emergency Response Planning Guidelines (ERPGs), or DOE Temporary Emergency Exposure Limits (TEELs). NIOSH Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) concentrations are used for products addressing emergency worker protection levels.
