LLNL/NARAC was a key participant in three ground-breaking urban field studies in collaboration with other national laboratories, federal agencies, commercial companies and the United Kingdom:
- Urban 2000 in Salt Lake City
- Joint Urban 2003 in Oklahoma City
- Information and data from the Urban 2000 experiment is available here: urban.llnl.gov
- Urban Dispersion Program in Manhattan, New York City in 2005
The studies have resulted in new physics understanding and improvements in computational models for complex urban flow and transport. NARAC has also used this data extensively to test and evaluate urban dispersion models (for example Urban Dispersion Modeling and Source Term Estimation).
